Because inspiration comes and goes, we brought back some of our 8 Questions friends to revisit their sources.

Where do you personally find inspiration?
I find inspiration through other people’s stories. I regularly read inspirational books by people who have been successful in the international development field. I love The Moth and other podcasts that tell stories about how people are making a difference in the world.
Where do you personally find inspiration?
I find inspiration whenever anybody triumphs over adversity. I am obsessed with people’s stories and I love underdogs.
Where do you find inspiration?
I think the inspiration is all around us; we just have to be in the mental state to be ready for them when they appear. Being around artists always motivates me to better my craft and helps me to up my game.

Where do you find inspiration?
I usually find inspiration from others who have already done a great job at whatever I am trying to accomplish. I have no shame in replicating what others have done (as long as it’s not illegal) but most of the time I discover a better way of doing things by studying at what they have done.
Where do you find inspiration?
I am not an inspiration snob. I troll social media, bad television, dirty streets for ideas. Things that stand out in those spaces are always worth considering.

Where do you find inspiration?
The 99 Cent Only Stores, Stats, and plastic flowers, but mainly the “kitsch” decorations themselves. Some Halloween decorations are incredible sculptures. Also, I am inspired by the shape of the wreath: the circle. There are so many variables on where to place the decorations and I always try to keep pushing the layout so they aren’t all the same.
Is it harder to find inspiration after being around the block a few times?
Not at all. As I grow and evolve in life, new things inspire me and new motivations transpire. For instance, I’ve started to live a really healthy life and I wanted a category of footwear to represent that. Before that, it would have been ridiculous for someone like me to do a footwear category outside of skateboarding.

Where do you personally find inspiration?
I am excited about the work being done in my community right now around prison abolition and the dismantling of immigrant detention centers. Talk about an amazing design challenge – envisioning a world without prisons or borders!
