Brian Anderson is the first professional skateboarder to come out of the closet to the skate community. He knew early on that he was gay but waited until he retired because he was afraid it would affect his pro skating career. In the video he said, “I consider myself a skateboarder first, gay second”.  He was named “Skater of the Year” in 1999 and the same year he won the World Cup of Skateboarding in Germany. Anderson is highly respected by the skate community and his friends support him all the way. No matter the race, gender, or sexual orientation, in the end were just skateboarders having fun.
