Imprint roundup 2016: our blog, our events, and our friends

It’s nearing the end of the year, and all of us at Imprint would like to thank every single one of you for reading our blog. In case you haven’t been keeping track, the content of our posts has looked something like this: Action Sports – 9, Art – 36, Entrepreneurship – 20, Environment – 2, Fashion, 16, Film – 6, Food 6, Literature 11, Music – 29, Tech – 31. The figures aren’t totally specific (Is an art book art or lit? A food preparation device, food or tech?) but you get the idea.

In case your only exposure to us is online, you might consider attending our events as well. Here are the major ones from this year.

jeffstaple 1-2-1 with Sophia Chang at the Downtown Independent (February 26, 2016) – Sophia has been a friend of Imprint for years, but Jeff finally sat down with her for a public conversation about her designs, her brand, and her unstoppable work ethic.

Pow! Wow! Long Beach (July 11-16) – During the annual meeting of street art and community outreach in Long Beach, Imprint hosted two talks at the Art Theatre. First, Maekan’s Eugene Kan interviewed Martha Cooper and Ernest Zacharevic.

And then jeffstaple interviewed Sean “Hula” Yoro about his public art painted while on boats.

End of Summer (August 4-28) – The annual residency of Japanese artists in Portland, OR, was produced by Imprint to foster and facilitate meaningful ties between the artists themselves and the Portland community. There were several talks followed by a longer wrapup session.

Underground Bands from Beijing (October 15) – Imprint hosted a rare opportunity at our own Psychic Temple for Long Beach music lovers to not only see underground bands from Beijing in an intimate basement show but also take part in a brief conversation about China’s independent music scene.

And we don’t blog about it as much as we should, but in addition to sharing and growing culture we help grow businesses via Imprint Venture Lab. Our partners include the following: Skillshare, Momofuku Group, Maekan, Solscience, Goldcrest Capital, Nice Cube, Crosscut Ventures, Rhyla, Becomb, Omhu, Architecture for Dogs, Solar, Knockaround.

Thanks again for checking us out and don’t forget to follow Imprint on this page as well as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, too!
