8 Questions with: Rob Myers

I got to meet SLVDR founder and creative director Rob Myers several years ago. They’d recently launched the brand, and thanks to the SLVDR team’s solid background in technical snow gear, they were already off to a great start, creating their own subtle, yet innovative variations on classic men’s pieces, sparing no attention to detail. The concept of “Attainable Luxury” is also at the core of SLVDR, ensuring the brand is accessibly-priced. It was great to see Rob while walking The Agenda Show here in Long Beach recently. Their plan for 2013 is to have fun and keep progressing. 2013 also promises more technical pieces, using functional fabrics with features like water/stain repellency, moisture wicking properties, water proof, and anti microbial / anti bacterial properties, while maintaining classic weaves and garment designs. The idea is to make life more comfortable without it looking like you are going mountain climbing or on a safari.

What does your average work day look like?
I try to start my day by completing at least one project that needs to get done. If I start out with email I can get lost in it as we all know how those things never stop. I would say my average day looks like this- coffee, design, email, Subway, email, numbers, afternoon treat, more numbers, more design and head home.

What’s the best thing about working in downtown Santa Ana?
I like the energy. There is a hustle around here that you do not get in the rest of Orange County. I am near the artist lofts and a ton of great places to eat so creativity is all around.
