DARPA : The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. If you’re not very familiar with them then boy, oh boy do you have some reading to do. Originally created in 1958 as a response to the Soviet Union’s launch of Sputnik, DARPA’s purpose is to prevent strategic surprises from negatively impacting our national security and ensuring that the United States maintains military superiority.
Now, what does this mean? It means that they essentially get an unlimited budget (billions upon billions) to experiment with the most CRAZIEST ideas ever to create some of the most COOLEST shit ever…that will protect our country, of course.
One of their latest projects is to create a “Super Solider” by genetically modifying their genetics. The same methods that give us boulder size veggies and fruits are now being applied to HUMANS. Some potential “super powers” may include the ability to maintain superior strength and energy without food or sleep, and the ability to — drum roll — REGROW LIMBS. Say, what? Other features such as the ability to communicate to kill drones telepathically aren’t as mind-blowing because a similar technology (albeit a much lesser version) has already been applied in the medical field, but the ability to regrow limbs is just so…T-1000ish (a la Terminator 2: Judgement Day). Speaking of judgement day…
I post quite a bit on technology but its just beyond belief what we are capable of, what we have accomplished, and most importantly, what is to come.
