Chloé Rutzerveld and her Edible 3-D Printed Project “Edible Growth”

With 3-D printing on the rise, freelance food and concept designer Chloé Rutzerveld, created an edible 3-D printed project called “Edible Growth”. Her concept involves a specially printed outer casing made from dough, which houses seeds, spores and yeast. As food grows within 3-5 days, the structure, scent and taste are reflected in its changing appearance. Depending on the consumer’s preferred intensity, they decide when to eat the fresh and nutrient-rich edible. However, it will take 8-10 years before it can be on the market because the technology needs to be developed much further and also the issues with food safety.
