Dalai Lama’s guide to happiness

The Dalai Lama is arguably the MOST open human being on this planet. Shoot, he probably is #1 and I’m just not doing him any justice. I’ve always been fascinated by him and have always wanted to see him speak in person. But, since I’ve never done so I just settle for his awesome mashup of videos on YouTube, of which many of them are absolutely hilarious. Yes, the Dalai Lama is quite a hilarious man. Didn’t know that, huh?

Anyways, what does this have to do with anything? Well, I believe that at the true core of creativity one needs to be completely open with themselves and their environment. You never really know what can trigger the next great idea, so harnessing the ability to be flexible and tolerant to thinking in unusual ways is a truly invaluable skill – and I believe that His Holiness The Dalai Lama is an expert at this skill set.

“I never consider myself as something special. If I consider myself as something different from you, like I”m buddhist, or even more, I’m his holiness Dalai Lama, or even if I consider I am Nobel Laureate. Then, actually you create yourself as a prisoner. I forget these things. I simply consider myself as one of the seven billion human beings. We are mentally, emotionally, intellectually – we are same.”
