Folded Paper Batteries

Folded Paper Batteries

The old-school art of origami is already awesome on it’s own, but now it has made its place in science. Using what is a called a Miura fold, scientists at Arizona State University have created a folded lithium-ion battery. They took a lint-free paper towel and coated, dipped, and sandwiched it with a bunch of scientific elements that I have absolutely no idea about, and paired it with the Miura fold to create the flexibility. The end result is a paper battery that, once folded, can increase its energy density by 14x.

Cool, but why does any of this matter? Pair this with Samsung’s flexible OLED displays and let your imagination run wild.
