Incidentally, the Mighty 690 was revived in the late ’70s and went on to become the source of pop muzic for a new generation. It’s also where I first heard Dickie Goodman, who–in another bit of news I just learned but wish I hadn’t–shot himself dead in 1989 at the age of 55.
