POW! WOW! Long Beach finished their fourth annual art festival enlisting 26 artists from around the world to help beautify the city. The overall goal is to spread art and culture by creating breathtaking murals that are scattered throughout the city. As the art lover, it is your job to find them! POW! WOW! makes it easy to spot by providing a map and addresses.
The Long Beach takeover – supported by Intertrend CEO Julia Huang – created over two dozen eye-catching landmarks while highlighting different parts of the city that may have gone unnoticed. This year installations sprawled all the way to North Long Beach, down to Long Beach Convention Center and over to Bluff Heights; adding 21 new murals, a wrapped Long Beach Transit bus and 4 public art installations to its already 50+ mural portfolio.
To finish on time, artists worked extremely long hours – some dedicating every day for an entire week to complete their massive wall. As in past years, the heat provided a small challenge, however the artists and groups of volunteers were unflappable and pushed through while engaging the community and fans.
If you were crazy enough to endure the heat, you may have gotten a chance to meet some artists while they painted and get the back story on their mural. If you missed them, at least you can still see their art, and hey, there’s always next year. Until then, ✌️.
