Maybe you’ve already read my recap of last week’s David Choe talk on the interTrend blog. Or perhaps you were present at the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy and witnessed it yourself. Whether you missed the event or are wondering if Imprint Presents: David Choe was just a bizarre dream, here are some more photos of the sold out and highly entertaining lunchtime engagement in Downtown L.A.

Unlike many visual artists, who prefer to let their works speak for them, David Choe has no qualms talking about his work, his story, or whatever happens to be on his mind. In fact, I’d argue that his forays into podcasting and other new media have increased his mystique rather than deflate it. He’s an interesting guy. At Thursday’s rare live talk, he not only detailed why he hasn’t become the highest-paid living artist by luck but actually shared ways to be awesome. For those who weren’t offended by salty language, references to bodily functions, or straight-up insults, there were inspiration and encouragement to be had.

Other perks included visual previews of the upcoming Thumbs Up! season, appearances by his members of his DVDASA podcast crew, and a chance for fans and aspiring collectors to engage in discussion with the infamous artist–and perhaps even touch his manhood after the talk. The entire 90 minutes was energetic but the Q&A moderated by Imprint’s own Julia Huang was extra-charged with Dave handling queries or varying taste and merit with a shocking amount of tact and hugs (affirming my assertions that my famously shit-talking and no-holds-barred old friend is indeed a softy).

Keep checking this page for video evidence of the talk in the near future…
