Playing for Change is a global multimedia movement created to bring the human race together as one. Doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, or how you were raised, at one time or another I can guarantee you that music has brought you closer to another individual and also inspired some sort of positive change within you…even if only for a day. This is what Playing for Change aims to perpetuate and instill in the world by bringing musicians from all walks of life to perform benefit concerts across the world. Below is one of their most popular, and rightfully so, videos that went viral at the time of launch.
The first musician to pop up is the genius, Roger Ridley. You can read all about him here. He was once asked by a Playing for Change member why with such a powerful voice like his he was singing on the streets, with which he replied, “I am in the joy business, I come out here to be with the people.”
Absolutely brilliant. I would have loved to meet the guy, but unfortunately he passed away in 2005. His music, however, lives on forever, so enjoy.
