Jul 28, 2011 Poketo Wallets in New Lisa Hanawalt and Helllen Jo Designs
Poketo Wallets first caught my eye at Giant Robot many years ago when it was exciting enough to discover vinyl textiles sewn to the shape of a billfold. Poketo still comes correct, and today they have two of my favorite American comics artists to come out in the last few years: Lisa Hanawalt and Hellen Jo.
(Lisa Hanawallet anyone? Anyone…? Sorry. Had to throw that in there.)
Poketo’s a company that’s got a solid inventory of rad illustrator collaborations keeping to the same template from Day 1. But on top of all that, Ted and Angie, the team behind Poketo, are a rad pair of people. I see poorly veiled ripoffs at flea markets and yuppie boutiques in Park Slope but don’t let them fool you. Even if the adage “it’s not who went to market first, but who came second that counts,” is true, Poketo is still the game to beat.
