Created by Warren Buffett and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Giving Pledge is exactly as it sounds — individuals giving back. However, this particular pledge is very unique in that it is aimed specifically towards billionaires from all over the world. The idea is simple — pledge to give the majority of their wealth back to the world through various philanthropic causes that they are deeply passionate about. Now, although there is no legal contract, it is a moral commitment that is made by the billionaire to both themselves and the public (they are required to make a public statement that they are choosing this path and also a letter explaining why). Some notable pledges include Michael R. Bloomberg, George Lucas, Warren Buffett, Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg, and many, many more.
